NEW SALESIAN TAKES VOWS

Last Thursday evening in the presence of 400 to 500 people in the packed parish church of North Brunswick, Brother Dat SDB took his final vows as a religious Br. Dat was asked to leave his native Vietnam by the Salesians and come and work in Australia, joining 95 Salesians in Australia-Pacific Province. He studied computers at RMIT and now teaches at Sunbury. His parents came from Vietnam for the ceremony and were at St. Anne’s for Mass last Sunday.
Dat met the Salesians through playing soccer as a young person.Among the 45 Salesians present on Thursday was Fr Norm Forde SDB who taught the first day students at Rupertswood in the 1950’s. He has been a Salesian for 60 years and currently teaches at Catholic Theological College Melbourne as well as being guest lecturer in bio-ethics in Rome and Chicago recently.
