WORKERS IN THE VINEYARD
During the month of July the parish will focus on the many ministries that are carried out in our community and how we may become involved in one. Each one of us has been given some gift that we are able to share with another, the gift of listening, driving, visiting or praying for others, the gift of technology, setting-up or preparing for our liturgies. With many sharing the load you would be asked to give a small amount of time and energy in our own parish community.
Forms will be available at our churches during July.
We will celebrate the gifts we offer to one another at our Parish Feast Day on 24/25 July.
Please consider how you may be able to offer some time to working in the parish vineyard.

After the holidays tank water from the roofs will supply the toilets at O.L.M.C. achieving a financial saving as the price of water rises.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF MELBOURNE PRIESTS
The Conference was held for four days last week in Geelong with 112 priests attending as requested by the Archbishop. This was one of our best conferences organised by Fr Martin Ashe and his committee. Our key presenter was Fr Dermot Power of London, a theologian and spiritual director. He was a delight to listen to, with good theology and a wealth of stories (some very humorous) from his own priestly experience. He summed up his six presentations by saying ‘we grow from the outside in—through pastoral experience with the People of God we are led to a deeper reliance in God’ – we never arrive, we are always longing to be better. We learn about the Kingdom of God from the ‘little people’. It is the laity who form the priests. The future is not in our hands, but the Holy Spirit will challenge us out of any comfort zone as we are all unfinished business…………………………………Fr Kevin
RECENT SAYINGS OF OUR POPE
‘The greatest persecution of the Church comes not from her enemies without, but arises from sin within the Church and that the Church thus has a deep need to relearn penance, to accept purification, to learn forgiveness on the one hand but also the need for justice’…..11 May.
‘We must overcome the temptation to restrict ourselves to what we already have, or think we have, safely in our possession: it would be sure death in terms of the Church’s presence in the world; the Church can only be missionary, in the outward movement of the Spirit…..We are called to serve the humanity of our own time, trusting in Jesus alone’…..14 May.
