OUR CENTENNIAL BUSH DANCE
The Dance has been the talk of the town-what a fabulous night with children dancing with their parents, students with their teachers and grandchildren with their grandparents. The shed at Pat Reddan’s farm had been transformed with tractors and farming equipment tidied, murals painted by the children of OLMC School and a sausage sizzle by the youth group. Between 450 and 500 people enjoyed this second event of our century year. Congratulations to the committee.
Some photos are to be seen on the earlier report
here.
SOME FACTS AND FIGURES
This month we have added over 200 households to our neighbourhoods, bringing to 3,122 the number of households in our parish where a Catholic resides.
With the statement of our Thanksgiving Offering, there is a summary of our finances for 2009. We are able to service our debt of $739,608 (excludes debts on schools) and our annual running costs of $328,815 due to the generosity of 928 parish families who contribute the first hour of their income to God’s work in thanksgiving for all God’s gifts.
Further details are with your new envelopes which will be available in approx. two weeks.
CO RESPONSIBILITY AND GOVERNANCE IN PARISH EDUCATION
A meeting will be held on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre to outline new structures in local governance of our parish schools. This is the culmination of a year’s work by our committee of educationalists. All welcome.
CANDLES IN CHURCH
The latest magazine of Catholic Church Insurances has an article ‘Over the last four years Catholic Church Insurances has received a significant number of property claims arising from fires started by candles’. The insurer advised that candles should be separated from flammable materials and not left alone (p.7).

AN INVITATION TO ALL MINISTERS OF COMMUNION AND OTHERS WHO CAN ASSIST
Over four weekends in May, 121 children of our community will be celebrating their first Communion. We will be having practice sessions at St. Anne’s Church on Tuesdays 27 April, 4, 11 & 25 May at 7.00pm and at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church on Wednesday 28 May at 7.00pm.
It would be a great demonstration of support for these children and their families if you could assist the teachers, RE coordinators and Catechists at these sessions and at the First Communion Masses.
If you are able to assist in this important work of initiating new members into our community, please phone the Parish Office on 9744 1060 and leave your name and phone number, or email ‘richardhallett@olmcsunbury.org.au’

COULD YOU CARE FOR A CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Centacare Catholic Family Services is looking for adoptive or long-term foster care parents who feel prepared to take on the additional challenges of a child with special needs.
Centacare’s Adoptions and Permanent Care program manager Kathleen West says, ‘We are particularly seeking adoptive or long term foster care parents for a beautiful little two year old girl called Anne who has severe disabilities. We are hoping to find a family who can provide full time care for Anne for life. We need a family who is patient and resilient, able to manage Anne’s ongoing medical requirements and prepared to work with support and therapeutic services. Most importantly, we need someone who can accept Anne’s disabilities, limitations and unknown future, and love her for who she is’.
If you would like more information on providing Anne or another child, including those with special needs, with a loving home environment, please contact Centacare Catholic Family Services between 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday on 9689 3888.
