Many of the parishioners who contribute in some way to the functioning of our parish turned up for the “Workers in the Vinyard” evening last Wednesday. Despite the cold there was a good turn-up.
The evening started with everyone putting on a nametag and assembling in their Neighbourhood areas. After a bit of “getting to know you”, parishioners formed into groups depending on which of the various ministries they had volunteered for. Paul read an extract from the Epistles of St Paul and the groups then fell to the task of finding coordinators, working out of what the mission/task consisted, what was required to start or continue it, and what was required from the parish in the way of support.
Finally the sheets were collected and the evening concluded with a prayer.
Through the ministry of our ordained priests, we receive Holy Communion. Through the Body and Blood of Christ, we are made one body: to become Christ-like … purified … ready to serve. Pray for Vocations.
to the newest member of our Altar Servers team, Kevin Daniels.
Lord, we thank you for your unconditional love which we celebrate in the Eucharist.
During this time of preparation, enable these children to discover more and more the gift of your love for them in the Eucharist.
Draw them and all of your family ever closer to you and to each other as we meet around your table.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
This will take place on next Wednesday. Please remember him in your prayers as he undertakes his new ministry for the eastern region of the Archdiocese.
Any Knights who can assist.
There are 13 Bishops arriving on different flights on Wednesday between 1:30 and 4:30 pm at Melbourne Airport and we desperatly need drivers to transport them to the Cathedral. Similarly, I need drivers to take them back on Thursday with flights leaving at 7:00am to noon. They need to be at the airport an hour before their flight.
Check with Knights who aren’t on email to see if they can help.
Also more ushers are needed Wednesday from 6:00pm.
Call the K.S.C.V. office on 9899 9612
This an opportunity to remember the compassion of Christ and how we should extend such compassion to those in need. A Mass will be celebrated at each of our churches.

A statement from Cluster of Schools is being released. The cluster of schools are Sale- sian College, Sunbury College, Sunbury Downs College and Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Specialist School.
The four principals of the cluster schools have worked together over eighteen months in a selfless way for the benefit of the young people of
Sunbury. Last week, the final submission was made to the Federal Government to fund a new 6 million dollar trade training centre on the corner of Riddell and Racecourse Roads, with a component also at Sunbury Downs College. The new purpose built teaching facility will offer VET Certificate II level studies in eight trades—Aeroskills, Engineering, Hair and Beauty, Hospitality, Building and Construction, and Electro-technology. The proposal has been supported by the Catholic Education Office and the Salesian Congregation. The full statement is in the Salesian College newsletter and other school newsletters. These VET subjects can be part of VCE and VCAL.
The cluster has been supported by a consortium of interested groups including Hume Council, Victoria University, Batman Tafe, Qantas, Honda,
Western Water and the State Government Department of Education.
If funded in October 2009, the new trade training centre hopefully will open in February 2011.
This weekend we will be invited to pray and think about our involvement in parish life. We will be asked next weekend to indicate the areas in which we sense that God is calling us to serve and the weekend after that we will have a special commissioning ceremony at each Mass to ask God’s blessing on the work that we have offered to do and to pray for each other as we work together to make the Kingdom of God ever more present here and now.
Please join us in praying to the Holy Spirit that he may light a fire of love in the hearts of our parishioners
Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. When we go out to make disciples of all nations we have a lot to tell. God is Lord in heaven above and on earth below. Having received the Spirit that make’s you God’s own children, you are called to proclaim “Glory to the Father, to the Son and the Holy Spirit: to God who is, who was and who is to come.” Alleluia!
