I am the Vine, You are the Branches
As our Parish continues to grow more and more, and the “branches” of Jesus the Vine spread further and further and become more numerous, we find we need more labourers in our vineyard. We will be having a “Workers in the Vineyard” weekend coming up on the weekend of Sunday the 14th of June, with more information as the time gets closer.
As Jesus said:”Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out labourers into his harvest”

Today is Respect Life Sunday with the theme ‘Defending Conscience and Protecting Life’. Let us continue to pray for all those whose right to freedom of conscience is under attack, especially for those with sincerely held beliefs about the taking of innocent human life.
Prayer Cards and pamphlets are available at the Welcome Desk in St Anne’s Church foyer and at O.L.M.C. Church. Please take a copy home with you.
Training for girls and boys wishing to become Altar Servers will be held in St Anne’s Church at 1.00pm on Saturday 30 May and Saturday 13 June. Applicants must be 10 years of age and have received or about to receive Eucharist.

Last July the youth of the world came to Australia. Now it’s time to share your gifts with the world. Palms Australia is interested in meeting teachers, doctors, nurses and other professional, technical and trades people willing to share their skills for 1-3 years in Asia, Africa or the Pacific.

Construction of the new access ramp began last Friday and continues for a couple of weeks. The ramp will be faced with blue stone to match the building. The ramp design has been approved by Heritage Victoria.
At a site meeting after dark last Thursday, it was decided to improve the lighting in St Anne’s Church in various areas. There will be further refinement of the audio-visual system this week. The marble grates over the font are being manufactured.
Parents and guardians of Year 1/2 children are also invited to a presentation by Fr Andrew Hayes, Parish Priest of Casterton in Western Victoria, in our ‘Parenting in Faith’ series on WED 13 May at 200pm and repeated at 730pm in the Parish Centre. He will reflect on some of the issues of living our faith in our families and our society, and of passing our faith on to our children in a way that is simple and life- giving. Fr Andrew was here last year and those who attended found the sessions enjoyable, friendly and helpful, and presented in a most lively and refreshing way. The topics are different this year so you will certainly hear something new.
All families with children in Year 1 or 2 at any of the schools in our parish area, are warmly invited to celebrate the many gifts which God has given you and which you and your family bring to our parish community at 10.30am Mass at St Anne’s Church next Sunday 17 May. The Year 1/2 children will receive a special blessing and a small gift.
On Sunday 17 May the community of Sunbury is invited to gather on the Village Green from 400pm to celebrate and thank our Emergency Services personnel and their families for the critical role they play in the safety of our community. The event is being organised by the combined churches of Sunbury and will include a service of thanksgiving for our Emergency Services personnel at 430pm in St Andrew’s Uniting Church. Following the service there will be a chance for the community to speak to the Emergency Services personnel over a sausage. Prayers for Australia at Ta’Pinu Shrine, Marian Hill, Bacchus Marsh (Mel 334 J8) on Sunday 17 May at 100pm. Please come and join us in reciting the Holy Rosaiy and Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by Mass at 2.3Opm celebrated by Monsignor Benedid Camilleri.
This month marks the centenary of electricity being introduced to Sunbury. The Shire of Bulla proposed generating electricity, but there was much community opposition, mainly due to the cost. However, in a referendum of ratepayers, the majority approved the project and residents were able from May 1909 to have electricity.
