Thank you to the teachers of both Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School and St Anne’s Primary School for donating $485 from their Kris Kringles to St Vincent de Paul Society.
THANK YOU
Thank you for the generosity for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. In addition to the $1875.35 collected the week of 27 November, $1047.65 was collected on the weekend of 4 December. The money collected will help support the many families who need assistance this Christmas. The money raised will help maintain the dignity of the families struggling to buy gifts for their children and buy basics like food and clothing. It will also provide practical support for struggling families and emotional support for those who have no-one to turn to. Sunbury community continues to be generous in their support of such worthy causes.
ST VINCENT DE PAUL
The Vinnies Christmas appeal starts this Sunday 1 December. This Christmas, Vinnies will spend time helping over half a million people and you can help too. By supporting Vinnies with a donation to the Christmas Appeal, you’ll be helping to provide services which make a real difference to people’s lives: presents for children, basics like food and clothing, practical support for struggling families and emotional support for those who have no-one to turn to. And isn’t that something everyone wants?
Please, when you’re thinking about the gifts you plan to give this Christmas, think about a gift to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal and help someone change their life. Envelopes will be available at both churches for people wanting to donate via credit card or direct debit. These can be returned this week or next week.
CHRISTMAS APPEAL
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal will start on 1 December. More Info will be provided in next weeks newsletter.
ASSISTANCE REQUIRED
Working with St Vincent de Paul, we have visited an Indian family with two adults and two teenage girls. The parents are fully qualified “Accountants” in their own country but after 5 months they are unable to find employment as bookkeepers or accountants. They wish to be able to follow their profession in Australia. The mother has said she would be prepared to work 1 or 2 days per week unpaid while she learns our systems. If anyone is able to help, please call Anthony Rocco, St Vincent de Paul, Conference President on 0416 008 967.

CATHOLIC CHURCH OFFERS PRAYERS AND PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE IN QUEENSLAND FLOODS
‘The Australian Catholic Bishops and people around Australia are united in prayer and practical support as the State of Queensland suffers its worst flooding in decades. The bishops extend heartfelt sympathy to the victims and their families.
Archdiocesan priest, Fr John Conway, is currently the administrator of three parishes in an area at the bottom of the Toowoomba ranges. He and people in the area are responding in the aftermath: “I’d like to express my gratitude to all the people and priests across Australia who have rung to offer support. Many places still have no drinking water, roads are damaged so trucks can’t get through. We can’t get fuel, milk, bread. We’re basically rationing everything”, he said.
St Vincent de Paul Queensland President Brian Moore hopes to assist people as quickly as possible: ‘We are appealing for money to get to the conferences to give concrete support to those affected. When the water subsides, Vinnies is going to be there for months meeting the needs of people. It is really heart wrenching to see all the people affected by these floods.
For those who did not have the opportunity last weekend to donate to the Special Collection last weekend for St Vinnies, Rockhampton, phone 13 18 12 or www.vinnies.org.au which will allow you to contribute to the St Vincent de Paul Statewide appeal’.
