The OLMC Youth Group will be hosting 2 stalls at the St Anne’s Night Market on 7 September. One will be for games and the other will be selling handmade cards for ‘Grandparents’. National Grandparents Day is 9 September.

Painting of the Parish Centre will commence on Tuesday 21 August and three weeks are being allowed for the project. The Centre will be out of use while being painted. This is the first time the Centre has been painted since it was built.

Neighbourhoods are asked to arrange a meeting in their neighbourhoods to review the pastoral life of our parish and to discern communally any improvements. A pro-forma for proposals is now at the Welcome Desk and should be forwarded to the Parish Office by 15 August in preparation for the Parish Assembly on 1 September.

The Lay Ecumenical Committee is in need of a volunteer from our parish. The role of the LEC is to run Sunbury community based gatherings, such as the aforementioned Christmas on the Green, the combined Easter service on the Green, Animal Blessing services, etc. The committee meet throughout the year on roughly a monthly basis. If you are community minded and would like to represent our parish on the LEC, please contact Alan Slocombe on 9744 3122.

As mentioned in last weeks newsletter, the combined Churches of Sunbury will be hosting Christmas on the Green on Saturday 8 December. For this event to be successful, we need to have 2 volunteers represent our parish. Only one Saturday per month is asked of the volunteers. If you would like to help make the event a success, please contact Alan Slocombe on 9744 3122.

Former parishioners, past students and friends are invited to the launch of the commemorative book ‘With Confidence and Love’  to be held during the Opening Night of the Photographic and Memorabilia Display on FRIDAY 27th JULY 2012 (7.30pm – 9pm) in St Therese’s Performing Arts Centre, Florence Street, Essendon.

Entry: $10 (includes champagne, wine, cheese etc)

In the past our community has given generously to Catholiccare. Our community has access to the services provided by this wonderful organisation through the outreach program.
It is run through the Sunbury Community Health Service and the hours of operation are: Mon, Tues, Thurs 9-5; Wed 11.30am-7pm.
Services provided range from individual, couple and family counselling, stress management, grief and loss, pain management and parenting.
Please contact 9744 4455 to arrange an appointment if you need to use this service.

Former parishioners and friends are invited to the launch of a commemorative book on the 27 July. On the weekend of 28-29 July , a photographic Exhibition will be held.
A Dinner Dance will also form part of the 90 year celebrations on Saturday 11 August from 7-11pm at St Therese’s Performing Arts Centre, Florence St, Essendon.
Costs $100 per person which includes pre dinner drinks and savouries, 3 course meal, beer, wine and soft drink.
