He is in good hands.  We would also like to thank Peter and Jenny Ryan who have cared for the Donkey and done a great job! Also, many people came forward to help look after the Donkey, and we are very grateful for their offers, so thankyou to all those who care about the Donkey’s well being.

FOR THOSE UNABLE TO BE WITH US

We have a large team of Ministers of Communion who bring Holy Communion to those living at home or in aged care. Three Ministers, and they are only three of a large team, estimated they gave Holy Communion 680 times in 2012 to our parishioners.

AN IRISH GIFT TO OUR CHURCH OF MELBOURNE

shamrock

An Irish gift to our Church in Melbourne has been Fr John Daly who entered eternal life last Saturday after 60 years of priestly service to the People of God in various parishes, including Yea, Dandenong North, Balwyn, East Coburg, East Brighton and St Albans (1987-2007). In 1952, several Irish priests came to Melbourne. His brother Dan followed and supported John who suffered much illness.

LOOKING FOR LEADERS

Are you passionate about what Jesus taught us? Would you like to share what Jesus taught us with the children of our parish? If you answered yes to both of these questions and can spare about an hour every 4-6 weeks, we would love you to be part of our Children’s Liturgy Team. We are in desperate need of more leaders to take the pressure off our current leaders. The more leaders we have, the less frequently members are rostered! Contact the Parish Office on 9744 1060 if you can help.

NEW SALESIAN TAKES VOWS

Last Thursday evening in the presence of 400 to 500 people in the packed parish church of North Brunswick, Brother Dat SDB took his final vows as a religious Br. Dat was asked to leave his native Vietnam by the Salesians and come and work in Australia, joining 95 Salesians in Australia-Pacific Province. He studied computers at RMIT and now teaches at Sunbury. His parents came from Vietnam for the ceremony and were at St. Anne’s for Mass last Sunday.
Dat met the Salesians through playing soccer as a young person.Among the 45 Salesians present on Thursday was Fr Norm Forde SDB who taught the first day students at Rupertswood in the 1950’s. He has been a Salesian for 60 years and currently teaches at Catholic Theological College Melbourne as well as being guest lecturer in bio-ethics in Rome and Chicago recently.

HELP NEEDED

Help needed at 8.30am Mass for setting up for Mass. Training will be provided to any interested parties. We appeal to the regular 8.30am Mass goers to help as the majority of the Mass set up has fallen to one family, which is unfair. The roster is set for one month per year. If you can help, please contact the Parish Office on 9744 1060.
Thank you to the 3 parishioners who have volunteered to help this week. If there are 2 more, that would be perfect!

FOSTER CARE

This is supposed to be the happiest time of the year for kids– new Christmas presents to play with, family get togethers, family outings, etc. Unfortunately, this is not the case for too many youngsters. Some children have no home, no family to care for them and live vulnerably every day. This is not what Jesus wanted for anyone, let alone these beautiful children. If you are able to help care for a vulnerable child, please think about Foster Care through MacKillop Family Services. They can be contacted on 8398 6800 or via www.mackillop.org.au for further information.
