RITE OF ELECTION FOR CANDIDATES FOR CONFIRMATION 2011

PRAYER OF THE ASSEMBLY

Lord God,
you created the human race
and are the author of its renewal.
Bless all your adopted children
and add these chosen ones
to the harvest of your new covenant.
As true children of the promise,
may they rejoice in eternal life,
won, not by the power of nature,
but through the mystery of your grace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen

PRIESTLY VOCATION DISCERNMENT

If you are wondering about God’s will for your life, a time of prayer and fellowship is available on 26 June.
Please contact Fr. Binh Le on 9926 5733 email:director@melbournepriest.com

LOSS OF TWO PARISH PRIESTS

Fr. John Maher O.M.I., 62 years old (Sunshine) and Fr. Tony Hally, 73 years old (Woodend) have recently returned to the Father.
Fr. John was also a fine lecturer in theology and Fr. Tony, as well as parish duties, was for many years on a diocesan committee involved with Catholic Schools.
Due to the lack of priests, their vacant positions have not been filled.

EPISCOPAL ORDINATION OF BISHOP-ELECT VINCENT LONG VAN NGUYEN

PENTECOST LETTER

Archbishop Denis Hart’s 2011 Pentecost Letter entitled ‘Planted and Built Up in Jesus Christ—Firm in the Faith’ (Col 2:7) is available this weekend.  The letter has been prepared with input from young people from our Catholic schools and youth apostolates.  Please take a copy home with you (at  Welcoming Desk).

HOSPITALITY IN ACTION

As part of their preparation for Reconciliation and First Communion, children and parents attend two home group meetings.   A considerable number of families participating in the program have offered to host and lead these meetings but we are still a few homes short.  If you are willing to have five children,  plus  1  parent each, at your home for an hour on one evening between Monday 20 and Thursday 23 June it would be a great help, and a great sign of care and hospitality towards the families who visit you.  If you are able to help, please call the Parish Office 9744 1060 or e-mail richard.hallett@cam.org.au before midday next Tuesday 14 June.

CAN YOU HELP?

The Salvation Army, Sunbury has asked all churches in Sunbury to place the following notice in our newsletters:
‘We are currently working with two people (a couple) in Sunbury who are homeless.  We have been given access to a caravan, however we need to find somewhere to put the caravan that would have access to power and an outside toilet.  This request would be unsuitable to a family with children’.  Please contact Lt. Cheryl Pryor on 9744 2095.

PARISH GARDENING

All parishioners interested in  sharing  their  time and gardening talents are invited to a meeting to be held on THURSDAY 16 JUNE at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre to arrange garden maintenance around the Presbytery and St Anne’s Church, and to discuss also the establishment of a Neighbourhood/Community Vegie garden in the donkey’s paddock.  Everyone welcome.
