VOCATION VIEW

Life’s rewards are tied up in the spirit of service. Just as the Son of Man came to give his life, so too are we then called through our profession of faith to serve others. Lord, we pray:

let your mercy be on us as we place our trust in you to do your will

PARISH RENEWAL & RETREAT

‘Spirituality in our Times’, facilitated by Jill Gibbs.

This is an opportunity to take another step on our journey of renewing our faith and our action as parishioners based on the gospels and current Church teaching.

Session times: Wed 21 October 10.00am to 11.15am
or 7.30pm to 8.45pm
Sun 25 October 11.30am to 2.30pm (please bring some lunch to share)
Venue: Parish Centre

Pope John Paul II wrote

‘to make the Church the home and the school of communion: that is the great challenge facing us now….if we wish to be faithful to God’s plan and respond to the world’s deepest yearnings’ (2001).

Our retreat is to promote a spirituality of communion in ourselves so that we can appreciate the need to strengthen our neighbourhoods in our parish.

‘Let us have no illusions: unless we follow this spiritual path, external structures of communion will serve very little purpose. They would become mechanisms without a soul, ‘masks’ of communion rather than its means of expression and growth’ (John Paul II—2001).

NATIONAL TRIBUNAL OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Sydney this week to examine applications for declaring some marriages null. To prepare for the session, I burnt the midnight oil in recent weeks reading and assessing 1,326 pages of evidence. The process shows how respectful the Church is of people when they say ‘I take you as my husband/wife’. Unfortunately, some people lack the ability to put their intentions into practice
