Today, we begin National vocations Awareness Week. This weekend we focus on each person’s vocation, especially our primary vocation– the call to holiness. The call to holiness is to become all that God has created us to be, to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, and soul and to share our gifts and talents for the common good of all society. We pray that our young people will hear the call to dedicate their lives to God and make a commitment to serve God’s people. If we have already committed to a particular vocation such as single life or marriage, priesthood or consecrated life, then we pray for God’s grace to rededicate ourselves and continue to live out this call in our life.
Prayer for Vocations.
May the Holy Spirit guide the Church during the Year of Faith so that all Catholics may experience a deepened renewal of faith, hope and love.
May young people be inspired by this Year of Faith to listen attentively and respond to God’s call to priesthood and consecrated life. May the faithful grow in understanding
and love of the calls to marriage and the single life, realizing the vital role these play in the Church and the world.
Amen.
