Newsletter 13.01.20_page1_image4Last Saturday about 150 people gathered for a great night of dancing and laughing. The band rocked! And most everyone who attended had really nice comments to make. Thank you to Cathie and Robert Lio for their hard work getting the night organized. Also to Graeme Edments, Gary and Lyn Plummer, Paul & Carol Zarb for setting up and packing away. The sense of community was great and we are hoping  to do more of these events in the future and develop community feeling.

They came to our parish in 1992 and were practising and contributing parishioners. We thank the Ministers of Communion for the ministry to Alec while he was in Goonawarra Aged Care. SMALL CHRISTIAN GROUPS

“I know that in your parish communities you come together in small groups to reflect upon the Word of God; part of this also involves the verbal sharing of your daily experiences. This allows you to discover the community dimension of the Good News. Place this experience at the service of your brothers and sisters. make yourselves builders of communities in which, after the example of the first community, the Word lives and acts.’

LENT 2013

To prepare ourselves to renew our baptismal promises at Easter, we embark this Wednesday on our forty days of prayer, self-denial and helping others.
Our theme for Lent is “Jesus is the truth who will set us free.” We shall journey with Jesus during these forty days of Lent as we will recall his time in the wilderness, his transfiguration, his call to be converted, the prodigal son forgiven and the adulteress woman forgiven.
Lent is a season of renewal– deepening our appreciation of God’s word together, more time spent in prayer and giving to others from our self-denial. It should not be a sad time, but rather a time of growth as persons and as a community.

COMMISSIONING DAY

Commissioning Student Leaders, Catechists, Teachers, School and Parish Office Staff of 2013 takes place within the 10.30am Mass. Let us pray for those members of our parish who have willingly taken on roles of service for us living out their Baptism in this Year of Faith, as called by Pope Benedict XVI.
